1. What is your role at Benchmark Benefits?
I support Benchmark’s clients in all aspects of their employee benefits programs. I bring to Benchmark more than 40 years of insurance expertise, particularly in managing, pricing, and designing group insurance programs.
2. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I am not too old to learn. Learning something new every day is certainly very rewarding.
3. What makes Benchmark Benefits the leader in health care solutions?
A leader must have the foresight to plan ahead. Benchmark anticipates the needs of their clients and finds creative solutions – each client’s benefit program is unique, requiring its own special assessment and solution. This is evidenced by our renewal and budget reports, which include evaluation of premium reasonableness, Cubic’s Prescription Drug Plan Review, health, and dental premium forecasts. Benchmark’s organized webinars on health and wellness are another example.
4. How do you go above and beyond to offer value to your clients?
I enjoy what I do. I give more than 100% of myself on every case I work on.
5. What is one thing you try to include in your everyday life that keeps your wellness & mental health top of mind?
Although my job is an integral part of my life, I take breaks as needed to have the right balance. Looking forward to the next day makes me hopeful about what lies ahead.

UNIBA PARTNERS NETWORK TAKES BENCHMARK
TO NEW HEIGHTS
Earlier this year we announced that Benchmark joined UNIBA Partners, an owner-led, client-centric global network that provides insurance broking, risk management, and employee benefits solutions. This move has allowed us to expand our scope and help more people worldwide reap the benefits.
Joining UNIBA Partners has already started paying dividends, we were recently a part of a deal with one of our Partners in the UNIBA network, Chesneau. Chesneau’s client Orinox opened a subsidiary in Canada and was struggling to find a way to provide their Canadian employees with benefits. Through Chesneau and the UNIBA network, Orinox was brought to us and we were able to provide the policy they needed.
Check out the full story from Chesneau here and learn more about UNIBA Partners is allowing Benchmark to help more clients Reap the Benefits.
With the onset of the pandemic telehealth and teletherapy have become standard fare for benefits plans. However, they are not the only segments of virtual care that have been picked up by Canadian benefits providers.
Paramedical Benefits are the latest care option to be covered by benefits plans, virtual physiotherapy being the draw in this category. Although virtual physiotherapy is not a new invention, support for coverage from benefits providers is relatively recent.
The effect of the pandemic on virtual care coverage is not a temporary issue, how will benefits providers maintain their virtual care support when in-person services are readily available again? Read the full article from Benefits Canada to discover the implications.
